WavePark Mentawai (WPM) is the result of a collaborative effort between local Mentawaian and foreign international interests, building and maintaining an international tourism business based in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Since its opening in 1998, WPM has prided itself on it's low key, culturally sensitive developments that have had no impact other than financial benefits for the local populations. Living on islands surrounding the WavePark, local Mentawaians support themselves and their tribes by harvesting coconuts, fish, fruits, vegetables and other kinds of cash crops.

Crucial to the continuation of these people's traditional lifestyle is the quiet disaffecting approach by WavePark staff and management.  While supplying jobs, income, foreign language education, medical supplies and support, WPM has gained the acceptance of surrounding villagers.  The WavePark has literally been developed on a "deserted tropical island", and no Mentawaians have been displaced or negatively affected by the construction of the WavePark. The 100% local staff at WPM have a vested interest in the happiness of their guests.

WPM offers more than just an all inclusive surf camp.  The WavePark scope covers the entire Sumatran and offshore islands, and has expertise and connections in many fields in addition to its unparalleled surfing qualifications.  WavePark Mentawai has a trip designed for every budget, and is flexible enough to let it's surfers design their own adventures.

WavePark Mentawai also prides itself on a more personal, intimate tour of the places that surfers ultimately pass through to get to the waves.  A favorite philosophy and part of our mission statement, "its not the destination that affects one's soul, its the infinity of possible experiences between A and B."  WPM does NOT offer Five Star ceramic sterility.  We offer a surf experience that you will never forget, and one that we are sure  will turn you into a repeat customer.  WPM likes to include Local Markets, Restaurants, Nightlife, Music, and shopping on its fully guided tours.
