One of our defining services at WavePark Mentawai is capturing the best surfing photographs of our guests in action. We have a full time photographer that sells a DVD at the end of your trip complete with all of your personal pictures, the best of everybody's else's on your trip, and our "extras" folder which has some scenic photos to remind you of your vacation.
Alice Trend has been the full time surf photographer for WPM since 2006. She has been published in surfing magazines, brochures, posters, DVD's and other media around the world. Every year as she increases her skill, we increase the accuracy of her equipment. She shoots mostly with our Nikon D300 complete with 80 - 300mm VR/4.5 lens. Everyday she uploads the daily shots to our bar computer and we have a slide show at the end of the night, to wash down the cold beers, hoot at the good ones and laugh at the wipeouts. If you have a good wave, OR a good wipeout, she has probably nailed the shot and you'll hear about it later.
In addition to Alice's boat and land shots, WPM has access to two professional photographers that are willing to swim around in the lineup for hours to get the awe-inspiring water angle of your and your friends pulling into the big ones. Ira Amerson and Alex Williams are both up for private hire for groups or individuals. They produce DVDs of professionally produced surf images for their clients including water, land and boat shots. Feel free to check out their WavePark Portfolios (Ira in 2006 and Alex in 2004 and 2008). Ira publishes shots in American based surf magazines, and Alex in their UK counterparts.
