Experience the grounds and facilities through WavePark Mentawai Resorts island tour.

The aerial photograph above is taken from the north looking south across our island.  We'll start our mentawai resort island tour at the hideaways viewing platform and make our way north to the pingpong and pool hall.

The platform, over 3 meters off the ground, provides a great view from start to finish of Hideaways.  Great photos and videos are possible from this height, but you won't want to spend long there when you see the rides your friends are getting.

Our new bungalows are a giant step forward for comfort and privacy.  In 2008 we built 2 new bungalows that can sleep 4 people each.  The bungalows have their own indoor/outdoor bathroom complete with marble double vanity, a couple's shower, and private toilet.  From the front porch you can watch hideaways piping at the end of the bay, with a beautiful sunset directly behind the wave.

We also provide a beach-side massage service (left) with comfortable hammocks nearby for relaxation (right).  You'll have to be truely surfed out to take advantage of either one though, as the view just makes you want to suit up and go out again!

Next is our "beach house".  Although the building is made with traditional materials, we have incorporated modern elements into the structure such as raised roof-top skylights for natural lighting and effective ventilation. The accommodation sleeps 6 people in 2 bedrooms downstairs and 1 bedroom upstairs.  Each bedroom has its own hot/cold shower, toilet and vanity.

The downstairs porch is comfortable and cool, looking down across the gardens to the beach and hideaways in the distance. 

Each bedroom can be configured to California King (left) or twin (right) sleeping arrangements with comfortable sheets, pillows and mosquito nets.  Each bed has it's own wall mounted fan, and each bedroom has a ceiling fan.  Plenty of ventilation!

 

Each bedroom has its own bathroom with a unique layout.  The bathrooms contain a hot/cold showers, western toilet, wash basin and shelves.

Next to and in front of the house is where we store your boards, ready for loading onto the speedboat right in front of the house.

Leaving the main accommodation we walk towards the bar and restaraunt. We have landscaped all the grounds around the WavePark facilities, for beauty as well as to reduce mosquitoes in the area. We have cleared approximately 11 acres of the coconut plantation surrounding the buildings.

250ft. from the accommodation is SaBar, the bar and restaraunt at WavePark. The exterior of Sabar resembles a traditional Mentawaian house complete with thatched roofing and carvings to commemorate the culture that we live amongst.

Inside the bar is another story. The bar, made out of solid coconut wood, has a split-level, hardwood floor. TV/DVD/CD and digital projector complete with 6 speaker surround sound system is adjacent to the bar for surf videos or movies provided by WavePark for our guests. The lower floor has seating for 21 hungry guests and staff.

SaBar is a great place to finish a perfect surf session. Our in-house photographer provides a slide show of the day's action on the digital projector, while the bartender serves up snacks and cold beers.

Behind SaBar is our kitchen where the chefs put together fantastic creations 3 times daily for our guests.  The food is often mentioned as the highlight of our guest's trips.

A great mixture of western and Indonesian dishes is what you have to look forward to, as well as special dishes such as sashimi, sushi, ceviche and bbq when fresh fish is caught.

The "ping-pong pondok" is adjacent to SaBar, down a couple steps and into the competition arena.

Fierce battles are fought between the guests and crew alike on the pool and pingpong tables. First to 21 or beer pong, 8 ball, 9 ball or cutthroat, your choice. Our guests regularly bring their own paddles, balls and sticks to make sure they have a good advantage, because the WavePark crew show no mercy.

Down to the beach in front of SaBar is the iconic bent coconut tree. Weathering every storm, waterspout and earthquake thrown at it, this tree rests at the opposite end of the bay from Hideaways. It's the guests' favourite choice for groups photos at the end of the trip.  It also happens to be hole # 1 of our frisbee golf course.

 

And finally, WavePark's special mascots and guard dogs, Snowy, Cowboy and Stella (below). They will protect you on your 90 minute hike around the island. They've been known to tag-team against snakes, rats, crabs and monitor lizards. The most legendary catch so far was a 3ft. black tip reef shark which he hunted in the shallows! It's a jungle out there, but not to fear with these 3 around!
